Thursday 22nd to Wednesday 28th June

Paul Taylor Mills presents 'Caught in the Net' by Ray Cooney, part of the Summer Play Festival 2017. 

This hilarious sequel to 'Run For Your Wife' finds hapless taxi driver, John Smith, still juggling his two families in different parts of London, both happy and blissfully unaware of each other.

However, this is all about to change when his two teenage children, from different mothers meet on the internet and decide to meet in person.

 

Thursday 29th June to Wednesday 5th July

Paul Taylor Mills presents 'Murder in Company' by Philip King and John Boland, part of the Summer Play Season. 

A dramatic society assemble to rehearse a mystery thriller under its dictatorial director.

Events and strains within the company more than equal those in the play, however a mysterious death brings the whodunit even more closely into real life as it transpires that almost everyone might, and could have murdered the dead man.

 

Thursday 6th to Wednesday 12th July

Paul Taylor Mills presents 'The Odd Couple' by Neil Simon, part of the Summer Play Season. 

A group of friends assemble for cards in the apartment of divorced Oscar Madison. Later to arrive is Felix UNGER, who has just separated from his wife.

Felix, the clean freak and Oscar, the slob ultimately decide to room together with hilarious results as The Odd Couple is born.

 

Thursday 13th to Wednesday 19th July

Paul Taylor Mills presents 'Ladies in Lavender' by Shaun McKenna based on the screenplay by Charles Dance, part of the Summer Play Season.

When a handsome and talented Polish violinist bound for America, is washed on to a Cornish beach in 1937 two spinster sisters take him under their wing and nurse him back to health.

However the presence of the mysterious young man disrupts their peaceful lives and the community in which they live.

This compelling drama is based on the famous film starring Judi Dench and Maggie Smith.

 

Thursday 20th to Wednesday 26th July

Paul Taylor Mills presents 'Dial M for Murder' by Frederick Knott, part of the Summer Play Season. 

Tony Wendice has married his wife Margot for her money and now plans to murder her for the same reason. Can he pull off the perfect murder?

Perhaps the most famous thriller of all time, this story from the same pen as recently presented, Wait Until Dark, will keep you in suspense right up to the final curtain.

 

Thursday 27th July to Wednesday 2nd August

Paul Taylor Mills presents 'Wuthering Heights' by Emily Bronte, part of the Summer Play Season. 

The wild and passionate tale of Heathcliff and the beautiful Cathy Earnshaw is played out with all the vivid depth and intensity of ancient tragedy.

A spellbinding love story, brought vividly to life in this theatrical adaptation of Emily Bronte's epic novel.

 

Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th August

Paul Taylor Mills presents 'The Birds' by Conor McPherson, part of the Summer Play Season. 

A tense and dramatic adaptation of Daphne du Maurier's enthralling short story.

A plague of deadly birds have begun to violently attack the human race. Three strangers take refuge in an abandoned house and are cut off with no means of communication. Will they survive their haunting new circumstance?

Paul Taylor Mills presents 'Relative Values' by Noel Coward, part of the Summer Play Season. 

An English Earl plans to marry an American actress to the great dismay of his family. When the happy couple return to the ancestral home, matters are complicated when the family maid unexpectedly threatens to resign and the actress's ex boyfriend crashes the affair.

A hilarious comedy from the author of previous Sidmouth hits Blithe Spirit and Hay Fever.

 

Thursday 24th to Wednesday 30th August

Paul Taylor Mills presents 'Birthday Suite' by Robin Hawdon, part of the Summer Play Season. 

A birthday treat has been arranged for ageing civil servant Bob. The treat is a hotel room for the night, a double- bed which folds up into the wall and an attractive girl called Mimi. Next door a shy Kate anxiously awaits her computer agency date - Dick.

When a connecting door between the two rooms is left unlocked you have the recipe for a fast- moving and hilarious comedy.

 

Thursday 31st August to Wednesday 6th September

Paul Taylor Mills presents 'Absent Friends' by Alan Ayckbourn, part of the Summer Play Season. 

Diana has organised a tea party for Colin, a friend of her husband, Paul. Colin's fiance has recently drowned and the aim is to cheer him up with a gathering of old friends. However Colin's impending arrival exposes hidden tensions. Is it only Colin who needs cheering up?

A classic from Britain's most prolific comic playwright.

 

Thursday 7th to Wednesday 13th September

Paul Taylor Mills presents 'Hobson's Choice' by Harold Brighouse, part of the Summer Play Season. 

The young daughter's of curmudgeonly bootmaker Henry Hobson are anxious to marry. They have eligible suitors but must wait until eldest daughter, practical minded Maggie, is promised in marriage herself.

Maggie however has other plans which include freedom from her father's tyranny a business and a husband of her own. Her choice, Hobson's shy apprentice Will Mossop.

 

Thursday 14th to Friday 22nd September

Paul Taylor Mills presents 'House Guest' by Francis Durbridge, part of the Summer Play Season. 

Hollywood movie star, Robert Drury and his wife Stella learn that their son has been kidnapped not for ransom, but to force them to allow one of the kidnappers to stay at their home as a 'house guest'.

When police officers arrive the couple hope that the situation will soon be resolved....but is everything as it seems?

Presents 'Steve Hewlett 30 Years Talking to Myself'. Top Comedy Ventriloquist Steve Hewlett with incredible Impressionist Paul Burling.
