Exploring South Devon

With lots of changes happening within the tourism industry, we've produced a top guide so that you can explore South Devon with confidence during your stay with us.

Bicton Park Botanical Gardens

With plants from around the globe, these colourful gardens are to be found in East Devon's Otter Valley. The gardens are open 7 days a week from 10am until 5pm and always make a lovely day out for people of every age.

It is recommended that day tickets are purchased online in advance (saving 10%) but can be also purchased on the day. Any guests who are not members will be required to leave their name and telephone number before entry is granted (This information will only be used for the government track and trace and will be held for 21 days).

All areas of the garden are open except the indoor soft play and the Bicton Woodland Railway as per government advice.

Beer Quarry Caves

Beer Quarry Caves are extraordinary underground caverns which you can explore with expert-guided tours. The underground quarry has been worked for 2000 years and provides a fascinating glimpse into some of our local Devon history.

The caves are open every day at 10:00am from March to October. Numbers on the tours will be in line with government advice and guidance so will be very restricted. If possible please pre-book tours by ringing 01297 680 282 and pay by card or ring for tour availability.

Babbacombe Model Village

Babbacombe Model Village is the world’s most famous model village and it recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. You will have fun exploring Britain in miniature and marvelling at some of the superb details.

Pre-booking is essential and it’s highly recommended that you book at least a day or two before since they are currently operating at about 50% of the normal capacity.

Crealy Adventure Park

Crealy Adventure Parks in Devon and Cornwall are amongst the best outdoor attractions in the South West. They always offer a great day out for the whole family; with fun slides, rides and all-weather play areas, just in case the sun does not shine.

Featuring over 60 rides and attractions set in 100 acres of lovely countryside, great fun is guaranteed for everyone in the family. The Devon park is just a 20-minute drive up the road from us here at The Belmont.

Less than 30 miles from the Belmont Hotel, you can discover the rugged natural beauty of Dartmoor with miles of unspoilt moorland and its pretty wild ponies. Exmoor Zoo

A friendly, award-winning zoo with a focus on education and conservation.

Booking is essential. Due to government regulations, you will only be able to visit them if you book a ticket slot on the day of your choice. This will not cost you anything but you will be respectfully turned away if you arrive without doing this. Season ticket members will also have to book their ticket slot on the day of their intended visit.

Greenway House and Gardens

This is an extraordinary glimpse into the private holiday home of the famous and much-loved author Agatha Christie and her family. The relaxed and atmospheric house is set in the 1950s.

The garden, car park and toilets at Greenway are open. Bookings are essential.

Killerton House

Killerton House, built between 1778-9, brings to life generations of the Aclands, one of Devon's oldest families. Visit to see the house, the family history and the landscaped gardens

Booking is essential. The garden, park, house (1-4pm), Kitchen Café, tea trailer, shop & plant sales, & toilets are now all open to visitors.

Pennywell Farm

Treat your family to a day of hands-on animal action at Pennywell Farm. Bottle feed baby animals, race ferrets, meet hedgehogs, explore ponds and enjoy fantastic entertainers every day during the Devon school holidays. You can even cuddle one of the world-famous Pennywell Miniature piglets!
